Gardening Diary – August 30, 2023

Took the pail that contained the weeds, that we removed from the garden a couple of weeks ago, over to Dave’s gully.

Sharon removing a volunteer bush from the Orange Storm Flowering Quince.
[Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Orange Storm’]
Picture taken on August 30, 2023.

There was bush growing in the Orange Storm Flowering Quince bush which we could distinguish from the Quince by their leaves. We don’t know if the Quince was grafted on the stock of the removed bush. (???). Sharon removed as much as she could of the unknown bush.

Morning Glory vine (???)
Picture taken on August 30, 2023.

The front right fence was covered by what we have called Morning Glory vine. Recently, I have read that this could be a different vine which is very similar to a Morning Glory vine. I removed the vine from the fence.

Sharon and I continued to weed the front bulb bed. Sharon removed the Morning Glory vine (???) that was intertwined in one of the Azaleas.

Pink Drift Rose
[Rosa ‘Meijocos’]

Sprayed Ortho Grass-B-Gon on patches of Bermuda Grass that were near plants in the front garden; in particular, sprayed around the Pink Drift Roses [Rosa ‘Meijocos’] that are in the Smoke Bush bed.

Also sprayed Ortho GroundClear Weed & Grass Killer on weeds (and Bermuda grass not near plants) in the Smoke Bush bed, the Sunny Knock Out bed, and the beds containing the Mugo Pines [Pinus mugo].
